Extremely fine and important 18K gold sapphire-, diamond- and ruby-set, hunting-cased, keyless minute-repeating astronomical watch, with perpetual calendar, phases of the moon and chronograph. Accompanied by a heavy double-twist-link gold chain in a leather fitted box. C. Four-body, massive, the crown set a with large natural blue sapphire, the covers entirely engine-turned with large concentric rings, the front centered with an applied sapphire- and ruby-set bell with a diamond-set horse?s head inside, the back centered with diamond and sapphire applied gold initialed ?DJB? with the compass needle forming the middle of the ?B?, frosted gold hinged cuvette. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, outermost chronograph division with five-minute red Arabic figures, four subsidiary sunk dials for days of the week, date, months of the leap year cycle and subsidiary seconds concentric with phases of the moon aperture and its age. Blued steel, Breguet hands. M. 43 mm. (19???), nickel, ?fausses côtes? decoration, 34 jewels, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring, micrometric ?swan-neck? regulator, repeating on gongs, slide on the band. Signed on the movement. Diam. 53 mm. Charles Henry Meylan C. H. Meylan Watch & Co. was founded in Le Brassus in 1880. Charles Henry Meylan was an eminent watchmaker, well known both in the United States and in Switzerland. In 1894, he was awarded the "Premier prix de réglage de l'Observatoire de Genève".
