George B. Eustis, 84, a charter member and former president of the Apollo club and a pioneer Minneapolis retail jeweler, died Monday morning at his home, 1621 West Thirty-second street. He was born at Dixfield, Maine, the son of Charles Lyman and Deborah Jane Parker [sic] Eustis and was educated at Edward Little institution, Auburn, Maine. After learning the jeweler trade at Lewiston, Maine, and Hartford, Conn., Mr. Eustis came to Minneapolis in 1872 and established a retail jewelry store. Shortly after, he was joined by his brother, Charles Eustis, and they organized the firm of Eustis Bros., with a store at 712 Nicollet avenue. The Eustis brothers operated their business until about 1915, when they sold it to Jacobs & Co. Both George and Charles became members of the Jacobs organization, and George was associated with it for 15 years, until about 5 years ago."
